Benefits of membership? Well for one thing, we own it!
A cooperative is a business owned and managed by its members. As locally owned businesses, co-ops are committed to the people they serve and the communities in which they live.
Member-owners have the benefit of special ordering food items from our suppliers' vast catalogs at a 10-15% discount through our Wholeshare and UNFI Buying Clubs. Many items are local, many are certified organic. Now that soup season is here, member-owners should also take advantage of our Bread Buying Club. What goes better with soup than a rustic loaf of wood-fired oven baked bread? And just because the winter season is fast approaching doesn't mean our member-owners won't have access to great produce — fresh, organic vegetables and fruits are available to order through Grindstone Farm. Member-owners also have the option to volunteer work hours for additional discounts. Work 4 hours per month, get 7% purchase discounts, work 12 hours per month, get 15% purchase discounts off items in our store. We also offer work-for-membership and payment plan options. A portion of the co-op profits may be returned to member-owners as a patronage refund after a three year period. Please refer to the bylaws for details. As a member-owner you belong to an organization that strives to sustain the environment, the economy and our community. The Clayton Food Co-op actively supports local agriculture, food producers and general products. Member-owners have a voice in what we sell, as well as in the overall organization of our co-op. Member-owners get the most buying power for their money and the money stays in our community, contributing to its strength. Clayton Food Co-op 720 James St Clayton NY 13624
